Cards and Points is a news site covering credit cards, loyalty programs, and rewards. We seek to be the best source of information available for consumers looking to make the most out of their wallets, whether their objective is a better financial position or an elevated level of travel. We publish original reporting and source our information directly from primary sources and our own experiences.

Cards and Points focuses on credit cards from major banks like Citi, Chase, Bank of America, and Capital One and loyalty programs from global brands like United Airlines, Delta, Air France-KLM, British Airways, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and Intercontinental Hotels Group.

The executive editor of Cards and Points is Aaron Hurd. Aaron Hurd is an entrepreneur, executive, and freelance journalist. His writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, TIME, Rolling Stone, NerdWallet, Forbes, Robb Report, The Points Guy, Bankrate, and many other outlets. Aaron runs Gentoo Studios, LLC, the media company that publishes Cards and Points. Prior to founding Gentoo Studios, Aaron helped lead and grow a boutique consultancy, founded a technology startup, led teams as an executive for a large strategy consultancy, and worked as an engineer for a major firm. Aaron currently sits on the board of a major health insurance provider in the State of Minnesota. Aaron has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a degree in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.

    Aaron Hurd is a credit card, travel rewards, and loyalty program expert. Over the past 15 years, he has authored over a thousand expert contributions published by leading outlets including WSJ, TIME, Newsweek, Forbes, NerdWallet, The Points Guy, Bankrate, CNET, and many others. He has also served in consulting roles for many of these same outlets, designing content strategy, hiring teams of teams of editors and contributors, developing thought-leadership pieces, and ghost-editing for senior editors. Aaron is well-known in the miles and points community and regularly presents about travel rewards at conferences like the Chicago Seminars and Minnebar. Aaron has enjoyed the game of optimizing credit card rewards since getting his first credit card shortly after he turned 18. He started learning about credit cards and travel rewards from the (now defunct) FatWallet Finance forums and FlyerTalk. He holds more than 40 open credit cards and has first-hand experience with almost every major credit card product.
