In most cases, eligible purchases will be dining purchases at Resy restaurants. Typically, credits are awarded within a few days after a qualifying charge posts to your account. Enrollment in the benefit is required prior to making your purchases.

How to earn the Amex Resy credits
In principle, getting your Resy credit is relatively simple. You simply use your eligible enrolled card at a Resy restaurant to earn your credit. Here’s what you need to do, step-by-step:
- Enroll your card in the benefit. This is a one-time enrollment that can be done on the Amex mobile app or on the Amex website.
- Find a Resy restaurant. You can search restaurants at Resy.com or through the Resy mobile app.
- Use your card to make a purchase at a restaurant listed on the Resy platform. As long as the restaurant processes your charge directly, you should receive your credit.

If you qualify for a Resy credit, you’ll receive a statement credit. While the terms and conditions state that you may wait up to 8 weeks, in my experience, the credits post within a few days after the restaurant charge.
You’ll also likely receive a confirmation email announcing that you’ve earned a Resy credit within a few days of your purchase.
What is Resy?
Resy is a restaurant reservation company, similar to OpenTable. Typically, Resy works with higher-end restaurants, but recently it has started including more moderately-priced offerings. In 2019, Resy was acquired by American Express.
How to find Resy restaurants
By far, the easiest way to find Resy restaurants is through the Resy mobile app. When you open the app, you’ll see your current location along with pins showing all of the Resy restaurants nearby. (If you’ve just installed the app, it will prompt you to create an account, but you can tap the X at the top of the screen and search for restaurants without an account.)

Click on any of the pins to get more details on the restaurant and reserve a table if it is available.

You can even swipe left and right on the panels at the bottom of your phone to view nearby restaurants.

If you have a favorite restaurant or type of food you’re looking for, you can search for that from the search bar at the top of the page.

Finally, if you click on the “Discover” icon at the bottom, you can see lists of recommended restaurants.

Finding restaurants on the Resy website

If you don’t want to download Resy’s mobile app, you can still find restaurants on the Resy website, but that process is… cumbersome.
The Resy website doesn’t offer an intuitive way to pull up a map of restaurants nearby and you won’t find a Resy restaurant in most smaller cities.
But if you want to search on the website, here’s the best way to go about it.
On the Resy website, enter your city name in the search bar at the top of the page or click on one of the featured cities from the drop-down at the top of the page. If you see an option to “View All Restaurants” in your city, click on that.
Both the desktop and mobile versions of the site have the ability to pull up a map. On the mobile site, you must scroll down until you see the option to pull up a map of restaurants. The desktop site lets you view the list of local restaurants side-by-side with a map view. Clicking on a pin on the map will snap the list of restaurants to that particular restaurant.
My experience with the Resy credit

I hold two Delta credit cards that offer Resy credits and will probably be picking up an Amex Platinum card shortly after writing this. My girlfriend also has a few Delta credit cards, so we have a few dollars to spend each month at Resy restaurants.
What was previously our favorite Resy restaurant in our city closed, but the last time we looked for Resy restaurants, we found several options near us that looked interesting. Resy seems to be expanding the number of restaurants it partners with, which makes this credit more valuable.
My girlfriend and I have found a new Resy restaurant that we like, so we go there every so often to have a date night and use our Resy credits. Generally, the server has no issue with swiping multiple cards and charging a certain amount to each, so we’re usually able to earn all of our Resy credits in one visit.
If I haven’t used my cards’ credits by the last week of the month, I’ll swing by that restaurant and pick up a few gift cards. The restaurant processes its gift card transactions directly, so the credits have always posted for these purchases.
Tips for using the Resy credit
Based on our and our readers’ experiences using the Resy credits, here are our top tips for getting the most out of this credit:
Split payments if you have multiple cards. Many restaurants will let you split your payment across multiple cards. If you have multiple credit cards that offer a Resy credit, you may be able to earn multiple credits for a single dining purchase if you split the payment. Even if you’re dining alone, you can ask your server to split your check.
Purchase gift cards to “lock in” your credit. Many restaurants sell gift cards and buying one can be a great way to lock in the value of your credit, instead of letting it expire at the end of the month.
Stack Amex Offers. Sometimes, you can find an Amex Offer on a card that offers a Resy credit. If a purchase would qualify under the terms of both the Resy credits and the Amex Offer, you should be able to earn both. We’ve stacked Amex Offer and the Resy credit successfully in the past. In some cases, you might be able to make money by dining out!
