United credit card offers: Personal offers back to the new (lesser) normal

The limited-time offers on the United personal cards have ended, but the previous best offers are still available (for the moment) through the referral links below. (I’ll keep those links on this page as long as I can, but at some point they’ll break and show that the offer is no longer available.)

Unfortunately, the “business as usual” offers on the United cards are lower than they have been in the recent past. Read more of my take on this below.

Here are the current best offers on United credit cards:

My take: Disappointed that the new “regular” personal offers are lower

When United refreshed its credit card lineup and increased annual fees across the board, I mentioned that there was a silver lining: It appeared that United had boosted the “regular” welcome bonus offers by 10,000 points on every card.

This remained that way for a few cycles, but with the recent limited-time bonuses ending, we’re back to the offers awarding the number of points that they did prior to the annual fee increase.

Overall, I’m not terribly excited about the recent direction United has taken its program. Yes, the credit cards are overall more valuable these days but that’s mostly because United has increased fees, and reduced mileage earnings, unless you hold the credit card.

Sure, that can help sell more credit cards (which supports this and other blogs) but I’d much rather have United add new and exciting features to its credit cards, rather than force you to jump through increasing hoops just to get what you once had.

The links on this page are currently referral links, which as of this posting are showing the previous bonuses. I’ll leave those links in place until I hear that they break. As always, I try to direct readers to the highest bonuses possible.

Are you eligible to earn a United MileagePlus bonus?

All of the United credit cards have language in their offer terms and conditions that restricts you from getting the card if you currently hold the card or if you’ve received a new cardmember bonus within the previous 24 months.

Chase doesn’t consider other cards within the United credit card family when assessing bonus eligibility. For example, holding a United Club℠ Infinite Card wouldn’t prevent you from earning a bonus on a United℠ Explorer Card.

Here are the exact terms that are common to the personal cards:

This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

The business card terms are similar:

This new Cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this business credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this business credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this business credit card within the last 24 months.
