Signify Business Cash Review

The Signify Business Cash℠ Card is meant as a simple rewards card for small business owners, offering unlimited 2% cash back with no annual fee. And the card, frankly, does a great job with that.

If you’re looking for simplicity, you’ll appreciate the 2% cash back rewards with no annual fee on the Signify Business Card—a relative rarity among business cards.
But if you’re looking for a card to protect your purchases, you’ll want to look elsewhere. Unlike competing cards like the Ink Premier, the Signify Business card doesn’t offer any consumer insurance benefits like extended warranty or purchase protection, so you might want to use another card for purchases of expensive business equipment.
The card looks even better when compared to American Express’s recently launched Graphite small business card, which offers unlimited 2% cash back rewards, but charges a massive annual fee.
If you are looking only for 2% cash back rewards with no annual fee, the Signify Business Cash card will meet your needs. But if you’re looking at the whole picture and want the built-in consumer insurance or travel protections common among other business credit cards, you’ll probably want to either pay an annual fee or accept less rewards with another card.

Quick take: Great for simplicity, which is what most business owners want

Aaron Hurd
Executive Editor of Cards and Points
I find it surprising that there are so few small business cards that offer simple 2% cash back rewards with no annual fee. To me, it would seem that this is exactly what the majority of small business owners want. And clearly the small business segment is highly profitable to banks, so I don’t understand why a card like the Signify is so rare.
Personally, I do hold this card but I don’t end up using it much. Because of the nature of my business, I am always trying out new products so that I can cover them for my audience and find the right products for my clients. So I’m a bit of an oddity when it comes to credit card usage for my small business.
That said, for a small business owner who wants to put very little thought into credit card rewards and focus on building their business, the Wells Fargo Signify card is a great default choice.
Benefits: Light on benefits
If you’re getting the Signify Business Cash℠ Card, you’re probably not planning on relying on the card’s benefits—which are extremely limited. Here are the benefits you’ll get with the card.
Travel benefits
- MasterRental Insurance Coverage can cover damage to or theft of a rental car when you pay for the entire rental agreement with your card and decline the loss/damage waiver or similar coverage. Coverage is secondary to your other insurance.
- Baggage Delay Reimbursement offers reimbursement for the costs of essential personal items that you need if your baggage is delayed when you book your trip with your card. Coverage is limited to $300 per 12 month period.
- Travel Accident Insurance pays up to $250,000 for certain losses of life and limb when you use your card to pay for your common carrier (such as an airline) tickets.
- Priority Pass can get you into over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide. The Priority Pass membership included with the card requires you to pay per lounge visit—no complimentary visits are included.
Is the Signify Business card right for you?
If you are a small business owner who wants to keep things simple and the only thing you care about is cash back rewards on all purchases with no annual fee, then the Signify Business Cash℠ Card is probably one of the best cards you can get. Here’s how you know the card might be right for you.
- You don’t want to chase after reward bonus categories. The Signify Business offers the simplicity of 2% cash back rewards with no annual fees.
- You’re not buying office equipment or other purchases. Other cards offer extended warranty and purchase protection, which can cover the things you buy with your card for free. This protection can be extremely valuable if you’re buying equipment or other durable goods, but if you’re buying consumables or materials, this coverage probably doesn’t matter to you.
- You’re not charging travel expenses to the card. If you travel for your business, you’ll probably want a card with better travel benefits, but if you’re staying close to home, then the card’s lack of travel benefits isn’t a factor.
Alternatives: Cards to consider instead of the Signify Business Cash
If you’re looking at the Signify Business Cash, you’re probably interested in simple cash back rewards, but rewards may not be the only thing that matters to you. Here are some cards you might want to consider for your small business if you travel, prefer longer terms, or if benefits like extended warranty matter to you.
- If you travel for your business, then you’ll probably prefer a card with travel insurance benefits and more rewards on travel. The Chase Ink Preferred is a great small business card offering more rewards on travel and the Chase Ink Premier offers 2% cash back rewards. Both of these cards have annual fees, but they offer robust travel benefits.
- If the ability to get longer terms matters more to you, then the American Express Plum Card might be a better pick. You can get either 60 days to pay or get a 1.5% cash back bonus for paying early.
- If extended warranty and purchase protection matter to you, the Ink Business Unlimited is an easy choice. You’ll give up 50 basis points of rewards relatively to the Signify Business cash card, but you’ll get extended warranty and purchase protection benefits from Chase.
Bottom line: A great pick for flat-rate cash back
You’re not going to get great perks with the Signify Business Cash℠ Card, but what you will get is simple 2% cash back on every purchase with no annual fee. If that’s what matters to you, then the Signify Cash card can be a great choice.
