Ink Business Cash® Credit Card

The Chase Ink Business Cash® welcome bonus is now even easier to earn. Earlier this year, Chase made a change to the welcome bonus of the Ink Cash card. You’ll now earn $350 when you spend $3,000 within the first three months and an additional $400 when you spend a total of $6,000 within the first six months.

Previously you needed to spend the $6,000 within three months to get the bonus. Splitting the amount into two separate bonus steps, and giving an extra three months to earn the second part of the bonus will make the bonus easier to earn for most.

Here’s what you need to know about the Chase Ink Cash welcome bonus, a welcome bonus that makes our list of the best cash back welcome offers and is one of the best Ultimate Rewards® offers available.

Previously, Chase required you to spend the entire $6,000 to earn the welcome bonus in three months. You now earn this bonus in two parts and you’ll earn the first $350 of the bonus after spending $3,000 within 3 months. You’ll earn the next $400 when you spend a total of $6,000 within 6 months. This makes the welcome bonus more accessible and we like changes like that. The Ink Business Cash is marketed as a cash back card, but earns Ultimate Rewards®.

10% first year relationship bonus: Exclusive to Ink Business Cash®

In addition to the welcome bonus, Chase is currently offering a 10% business relationship bonus for new Ink Business Cash® cards. If you have both a Ink Cash and a Chase Business Checking account on your first card account anniversary, you’ll receive a 10% bonus on the point you earned during your first cardmember year. More details on this relationship bonus are below.

No current in-branch exclusive offer

Most of the time the welcome offer that you can get when you apply for a card at a Chase branch matches what you’ll find online. However, Chase occasionally offers better in-branch exclusive welcome offers on cards, so it’s worth occasionally checking if there is a better offer in-branch. As of April 24, 2024, there was no in-branch exclusive welcome offer on the Ink Business Cash®.

My take on the Chase Ink Business Cash® welcome bonus

When welcome bonuses become easier to earn, that’s unambiguously a good thing. And Chase’s changes to one of the best Ultimate Rewards® welcome bonuses makes the Ink Business Cash® welcome bonus even easier to earn than ever.

Chase made the bonus easier to earn by splitting the spending requirements. You earn $350 after spending $3,000 within 3 months and then another $400 after spending a total of $6,000 within 6 months. (Previously, you needed to spend the full $6,000 within 3 months to earn a $750 bonus.)

Earning $750 after spending a total of $6,000 is a great welcome offer, full stop. But what makes this bonus especially compelling is that the Ink Business Cash card earns Ultimate Rewards® points behind the scenes. That means that you can transfer your points to premium cards like the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and use the premium redemption options available on those cards for more value.

But the welcome bonus gets better: 10% relationship bonus

As if the positive change to the welcome offer weren’t enough. Chase now includes a 10% relationship bonus to small business owners who also have a Chase Business Banking Checking account. If you have both accounts open, you can qualify to get a bonus of 10% of the points you earned from spending in the first 12 billing cycles of having the card.

This can add up to a ton of points if you’re a small business owner who spend a lot on your Ink cards. Depending on how much you spend on your Ink card, this could be considered the best-ever offer on the Chase Ink Cash card.

Yes, you can get a small business credit card!

My business (this blog, writing, and consulting) means I can get a small business credit card. But you likely qualify for a small business credit card, even if you work for someone else. Even if you sell things online or on Facebook marketplace occasionally, you probably have a business and can are eligible to get a small business credit card. A hobby that you’re trying to monetize (even a small one) can be a small business!

For my small business, the 5% I earn on the first $25,000 of combined purchases at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services comes in handy.

10% relationship bonus points after 12 billing cycles

In addition to the card’s welcome bonus, Chase is offering a 10% relationship bonus to new Chase Ink Business Card holders who also have a Chase Business Banking Checking account. At the end of your 12th Chase Ink billing cycle, if you are eligible, you’ll receive an additional 10% bonus based on the cash back you earned (excluding the welcome bonus) during your first cardmember year.

How to qualify for the 10% relationship welcome bonus

Here’s what you need to do to qualify for the 10% relationship bonus:

  • Open a Chase Ink Business Cash card between 3/17/2024 and 11/17/2024.
  • Be an owner of an eligible Chase Business Banking Checking account.
  • Your Chase Ink Business Cash card must be open and not in default.
  • Your Business Banking Checking account must be open at the end of your 12th monthly Chase Ink Business Cash card billing cycle.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive a one-time bonus equal to 10% of the cash back rewards you earned during the first 12 billing cycles you had the card. This includes the total cash back you earned from spending on the card, including the cash back you earned from bonus categories like office supply stores. You won’t, however, earn a 10% bonus on the rewards you earned from the card’s welcome bonus.

A few notes on applying for Chase cards

  • 5/24 rule. Chase generally won’t approve you if your credit report is showing 5 or more new credit card accounts opened in the last 24 months. This rule is knows as the 5/24 rule. If you’re unsure if you are “under 5/24” you should check your 5/24 status before applying for a Chase card. Note that recently this rule seems to have softened, especially for Ink cards. See our coverage about Chase 5/24 for more.
  • Only one Sapphire-branded card. You can only hold one Chase Sapphire-branded card at a time. This means you can have either a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or a Chase Sapphire Reserve®, but not both.
  • You can get a welcome bonus on a Chase card, even if you’ve had the card previously. How often you can earn a welcome bonus on a Chase card varies by card family.
    • Most cards allow you to earn a welcome bonus if it has been at least 24 months since your last received a welcome bonus on the same card.
    • Chase Sapphire-branded cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can only earn a welcome bonus once every 48 months. (We published a separate article to help you determine if you can get a Sapphire welcome bonus.)
    • Marriott cards have their own special rules.
  • Chase will match an increased bonus. If you apply for a Chase card and the bank offers a higher bonus within 90 days, you can send Chase a secure message or call them to have your welcome offer matched.
  • In-branch offers are sometimes better. Chase sometimes has better credit card welcome offers in-branch than it will publish on its own website or through affiliate networks. Check all channels to make sure you’re getting the best bonus.
  • Chase business cards do not report to personal credit reports and do not impact your 5/24 status as long as they are current.
