In-branch bonus also offers 120k points after spending 8k in 3 months
On June 26, 2024, we confirmed the following offer on the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card was available in Chase branches when you applied with a banker: Earn 120,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
At the time, the offer was the best available offer on the card and was an in-branch exclusive. The same bonus has since been launched online.
Referral offers not yet showing Chase Ink Preferred® 120k bonus
As of July 22, 2024, we’re not seeing the 120k Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card offer available through personal referral links. We’ll likely see this change in the next few weeks and we’ll update this post when we see referral links able to generate the better offer. Currently, the referral links only generate the older 100k offer.
In most cases, if you hold a Chase credit card, you can generate a referral link that lets you earn a bonus when people you refer apply for and are approved for chase cards in the same card family as a card you have. Through 9/3/24, you can earn 40,000 points per approved referral for Chase Ink cards.
Chase will match sign-up bonuses
In our experience, Chase will match a current increased welcome bonus if you applied for the same card, through the same channel in the past 30 days. If you applied with this card within the past 30 days under a less-attractive sign-up bonus, you can likely get the newer, better bonus matched by calling Chase customer service.
Keep in mind that Chase typically will only match sign-up bonuses in the same channel. For example, if you applied online, you are unlikely to get your bonus matched to an in-branch exclusive offer.

My take on the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card welcome bonus
The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is an under-rated card offering its best ever bonus, which is simultaneously one of the best cash back welcome bonuses and the best Ultimate Rewards® welcome bonuses. The card’s 3x points on up to $150,000 spent each year on combined purchases on travel, shipping, internet, cable, phone, social media & search engine advertising means that the card gets more rewards than the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card on general travel purchases, plus a bunch of rewards in general business purchases.
Chase Ultimate Rewards® is probably my favorite transferable point program because it offers travel rewards and the flexibility of cashing out your points for cash back rewards.
My business (this blog, writing, and consulting) means I can get a small business credit card. But don’t think that you can’t get a small business credit card if you work for someone else. Even if you sell things online or on Facebook marketplace occasionally, you probably have a business and can are eligible to get a small business credit card. A hobby that you’re trying to monetize (even a small one) can be a small business!
Bottom line: This is the best-ever bonus on this card and one of the best sign-up bonuses available. It makes our list of best cash back welcome bonuses for the cash value of its points and best Ultimate Rewards welcome bonuses. In my view, we are unlikely to ever see a better welcome bonus on this card.
A few notes on applying for Chase cards
- 5/24 rule. Chase generally won’t approve you if your credit report is showing 5 or more new credit card accounts opened in the last 24 months. This rule is knows as the 5/24 rule. If you’re unsure if you are “under 5/24” you should check your 5/24 status before applying for a Chase card. Note that recently this rule seems to have softened, especially for Ink cards. See our coverage about Chase 5/24 for more.
- Only one Sapphire-branded card. You can only hold one Chase Sapphire-branded card at a time. This means you can have either a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or a Chase Sapphire Reserve®, but not both.
- You can get a welcome bonus on a Chase card, even if you’ve had the card previously. How often you can earn a welcome bonus on a Chase card varies by card family.
- Most cards allow you to earn a welcome bonus if it has been at least 24 months since your last received a welcome bonus on the same card.
- Chase Sapphire-branded cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can only earn a welcome bonus once every 48 months. (We published a separate article to help you determine if you can get a Sapphire welcome bonus.)
- Marriott cards have their own special rules.
- Chase will match an increased bonus. If you apply for a Chase card and the bank offers a higher bonus within 90 days, you can send Chase a secure message or call them to have your welcome offer matched.
- In-branch offers are sometimes better. Chase sometimes has better credit card welcome offers in-branch than it will publish on its own website or through affiliate networks. Check all channels to make sure you’re getting the best bonus.
- Chase business cards do not report to personal credit reports and do not impact your 5/24 status as long as they are current.
