Wells Fargo Autograph® Card review
Cards and Points Rating: 4.0/5.0

The Wells Fargo Autograph® Card is a no-annual fee card that earns rewards points that can be redeemed for cash back or transferred to a limited number of transfer partners. The card is a good choice if you want transferable points on travel with no annual fee.
The card’s biggest perk is the 3x points you can earn on restaurants, travel, gas, transit, streaming services, and phone plans. That’s a lot of points in a lot of useful categories—and more transferable points on travel than you’ll earn with the Chase Sapphire Preferred, which carries a $95 annual fee.
Wells Fargo credit cards are light on consumer insurance benefits, and this card is no different. While the card does include a good cellular telephone protection benefit, it offers no extended warranty or purchase protection benefits. So you might want to pick up another card for your important, expensive purchases.
Overall, if you want to keep things simple and go all-in with Wells Fargo, the card can be a good choice for your travel and dining spending, especially when paired with a Wells Fargo Active Cash card for your non-category purchases.

Redeeming Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card rewards
The points you earn with your Wells Fargo Autograph card can be redeemed for cash redemption options, charitable donations, merchandise, physical and electronic gift cards or travel. Points can be redeemed for cash back rewards at 1 cent per point.
- Manual redemptions made online or by phone can be made with as little as $0.01 of rewards (or one point).
- Automatic or check redemptions require at least $25 (2,500 points) of rewards to redeem.
- Points can be transferred to travel partners, to Wells Fargo’s transfer partners. The ability to transfer points is buried deep within the rewards program’s terms and conditions. Wells does not publicly publish its transfer partner list.
Benefits: Great cell phone protection, but limited other benefits
The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card is notably light on benefits, but the card does offer cell phone protection and a secondary auto rental collision damage waiver. Here are the details.
Consumer insurance benefits
Many cards offer consumer insurance benefits that can protect the things you buy. Here are the consumer insurance benefits offered by the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card. Terms and restrictions apply to all benefits.
Cell phone protection – Get up to $600 of cell phone protection against damage or theft when you pay your monthly cell phone bill with your eligible Wells Fargo card (subject to a $25 deductible). Terms apply. Learn more about cell phone protection.
Travel insurance benefits
The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card offers a secondary auto rental collision damage waiver benefit, but not much else in the way of travel benefits. Here are the details.
Secondary auto rental collision damage waiver insurance – Auto rental collision damage waiver insurance provides reimbursement for damage to a rental car caused by theft or collision. The coverage you get with the Wells Fargo Autograph card is secondary coverage within your country of residence and primary outside of your country of residence.
Is the Wells Fargo Autograph® Card right for you?
The Wells Fargo Autograph® Card won’t be for everybody, but here are some signs that the card might be right for you:
- You want transferable point rewards on travel with no annual fees. Most transferable points programs require you to have a card with an annual fee, but if you want to get into transferable rewards points with no annual fee, the Autograph is a reasonable choice.
- You like having a cash back option. Not every transferable point currency offers cash back redemptions at a good value. Amex Membership Rewards and Capital One miles, for example, cannot be redeemed directly for cash back in most cases at 1 cent per point. The Autograph card’s rewards can.
- You want 3x points on gas with Wells Fargo. No other Wells Fargo card offers 3x transferable points or 3% cash back on gas.
Bottom line: A decent choice for category rewards with Wells Fargo
If you want increased rewards in useful categories with no annual fee, the Wells Fargo Autograph card can be a good choice. Especially if you pair the card with the Wells Fargo Active Cash, you’ll get a good amount of rewards on all of your purchases—and you’ll be able to dip your toe into the world of transferable rewards without paying an annual fee.
