Hilton Honors credit card welcome bonuses

My take on the current Hilton welcome bonuses

Seeing increased welcome bonuses on all of the personal Hilton Honors cards is nice and all of the bonuses on the personal cards are larger than the bonuses we’ve seen in the past. Now is a good time to get a Hilton credit card if you are in the market.

The bonus on the Hilton Honors American Express Card is definitely the value play. 100,000 points, even if they are Hilton Honors points, on a card with no annual fee is a great deal. If your objective is Hilton points, this is the card to get.

But I also wouldn’t shy away from the bonus on the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card. The card carries a massive $550 annual fee, but it is one of the few cards that gives you an annual free night award with your new card. If you think of the welcome bonus as 175,000 points plus a Hilton free night certificate, that’s a crazy good deal.

The welcome bonus of The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card also increased, but so did the spending requirement to get that bonus, as well as the card’s annual fee.

Bottom line: If you want to pickup Hilton points speculatively, go for the Hilton Honors American Express Card. But if you’ve been eyeing either of the other cards, now is the time to get the card.

Our take on the welcome bonus: The current increased welcome bonus is a princely sum of points, but the massive spending requirement makes it unappealing. Also, the card recently increased its annual fee and gutted a lot of its rewards and benefits.
